Very long ago,
in a city far far away...

This is the personal pilgrimage back to Exton. I can't image who (other than my fam) would be interested in this, but here it is anyways ;)

The Forbes' moved to Exton from Dallas in '72. Then moved back to the promise land, that'd be Texas, in '78.
Paoli, PA
I went up Hiway 30 from Philly. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! 7 miles from Philly is the BAD part of town. Not to mention needing to go 30+ miles when the speed limit was 35mph unless you going thru a town, which you always were, then you had to do 25mph. Not to mention the stop lights EVERY block...anyhoo...
got to Paoli in an hour. And stopped at the Paoli Bapitst Church

where I was dunked. :) Here's the front stoop

. The right side

. Here's from the back

in the parking lot. Here's the front

again. I couldn't get inside, they were closed on saturday...go figure.
Here's the railroad

track to the station

next to the church, where we used to go down to to squish pennies. The path we took has been over grown.

Side Note: Sorry Dan, the place we used to sneak out and read comics....is now a Starbucks. :(
Exton, PA
From Paoli, I headed up Hiway 30 to Exton where it crosses 100. Took the wrong turn and wound up in West Chester >:|
so backtracked. Pasted the Exton Mall on to Shoen

road. All along Shoen Rd they've built up

houses and apartments. Kept going till i came to Fairview

Drive, where the old homestead is.
On the way down passed by Joe Shay's house

, the weird guy my bro would hang out and together torture me. :P... remember the Oppossum Dan???
And here's the old house

! Here's the side

of the house where I experimented with matches and crayons. It's a wonder I didn't burn the house down. Sorry Pop :) Here's the back

of the house, with the door to the basement that always flooded. Someone added on an enclosed back patio

. Here's the backyard

. And I'm guessing the same old wood pile we burried out lil scotty dog Trina. Rasberry bushes we planted are gone. Here's the big rock

which marked property lines. Here's the little

woods

near the house. Another shot of the backyard

. The back

and side

of the Anderson's house. The Humil's

house. The McCrain's

house

. The old nursery

is still running, as is the old barber shop

.

Side Note:The BIG HILL

that took foreeeeeeeever to bike up...seemed smaller. And the Entenman's Outlet is now a liquor store. And never did see the Gernsey Cow. And generally speaking, Exton and the house, looks a whole lot smaller! :)
